Rental Penalties
This page lists the penalties referenced in clause 6.12 and Annex No. 2 of the ZURO Cars rental agreement. The list applies to active rental customers and forms an integral part of the contract signed at vehicle pick-up.
Our approach is straightforward: we resolve issues through dialogue first. The penalties below set the formal framework for situations where direct agreement is not possible. They are also there to make sure both sides know exactly what to expect — no surprises.
If something happens, contact us immediately. Most situations — minor damage, late return, lost keys — are resolved smoothly when reported on time. Hiding issues makes them worse.
1. Vehicle condition on return

2. Driving violations

3. Administrative & procedural

Important notes
- All amounts are in EUR. Payable within 5 calendar days of notice from the Lessor.
- Penalties are cumulative with the actual cost of repair, replacement, or third-party fees (e.g., government fines, repair invoices, towing costs).
- For damage discovered after vehicle return, the Lessor will provide an independent appraiser's report and supporting documentation before invoicing.
- Late payment of penalties triggers an additional statutory default interest on the outstanding amount, plus all collection costs (legal, agency, court).
- All amounts here are moderate, industry-standard penalties. Higher amounts may apply for serious violations (border crossing without consent, racing, vehicle abandonment) per clause 4.2.14 of the agreement.
Dispute resolution
Disputes are first addressed by direct negotiation. If we cannot reach agreement, the case is referred to the competent court in Belgrade, Republic of Serbia.
